Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC 2015 Details:
Inflating of the 89th Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloons
Did you know that the Balloons are as wide as multi taxicabs, high as 5 story buildings and can require up to 90 handlers (each!)?
This year, the Macy’s welcomes four new balloon characters to the roster for 2015, as well as many beloved returning favorites. New characters include: Angry Birds, the fourth version of Ronald McDonald, Scrat & His Acorn from Ice Age and Sinclair Oil Corporation’s Dino-Mite.
Returning for another stroll down the UWS to their final destination at Macy’s 34th St. include: Adventure Time with Finn & Jake, Diary of A Wimpy Kid, Hello Kitty, Sponge-Bob Square Pants, Pillsbury Doughboy, Pikachu, Elf on the Shelf, Snoopy and Woodstock, Skylanders Eruptor, Thomas the Tank Engine, Red Mighty Morphin Power Ranger, Paddington, Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon and Ronald McDonald.
And, of course, don’t miss these animated friends come to life at the Balloon Inflation extravaganza the night before next to the Museum of Natural History. *FREE*
Balloon Inflation Details:
Wednesday, November 25, 2015 from 3pm-10pm. The balloons begin to come to life around 4:30-5pm and the last admission to the area is at 9:15pm. HOWEVER, TRUST US, FOLKS…BY 6pm-7pm, THE PLACE IS PACKED, SO GET THERE EARLY!
On the side of the Museum of Natural History, enter on the side of 79th St and Columbus Avenue
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
What better way to start the Thanksgiving holiday weekend in NYC, before eating too much and going into a turkey coma? This year, you’ll see 17 giant balloons, smaller novelty balloonicles, over 29 floats, 1,600 cheerleaders and dancers, 900 clowns, 13 marching bands, celebrity performers, and of course, Santa Claus!
The Parade begins at 77th and Central Park West, marches to Columbus Circle where it turns and goes across Central Park South (59th St) to 6th Ave and down to Macy’s Herald Square and 34th St. The kick off time is 9am until 12pm (as it moves further downtown) but you MUST BE THERE EARLY TO SECURE YOUR SPOT!!
